About Jamal
Hi! I'm an academic teacher and published writer with several years experience in teaching and creative writing. I absolutely love what I do and it's the reason I hope to provide future students with the skills to thrive in high school and beyond! I received my BA in English Literature from Florida International University, where I was also a member of its English Honors Society and academic writing center. I then went on to receive my master's in teaching from Duke University where I wrote for the university paper and was able to promote conversations on race relations on and off campus. I hope to do my students proud when they've left my classroom!

I love incorporating real world, current events to my lessons, as well as artful and creative medium, like paintings, hip-hop and provocative journalism. My lessons often as students to probe the work at hand, as well as digging a little deeper into who they are and how their ideas came to be.
