About the lesson

Hi there, my name is Angel. I am currently a literacy teacher in a non-profit organization, which means I help older seniors to learn how to read and write. I have taught abroad in various ESL classrooms settings, from young children to university students to learn English. This means I know what works best for new English learners, and how to ensure you will absorb the information effectively. Moreover, I care about your success so you will only get encouragement and support from me!

I believe that learning is not a "one size fits all" situation, and that everyone has different goals with their English acquisition. If you were to hire me as your tutor, I would first find out what your goals with English are. Do you want to improve in your writing? You have an important essay to hand in for your course? You need to reach a certain level of fluency in 6 months? We will have a discussion on this, and through this discussion I would gauge where your level of reading/writing/speaking/comprehension is at. By the end of the conversation I would give you a general lesson plan for the next few classes, and the things I would like to work on with you in order for you to reach your goal with English.

Here is a sample of a lesson plan catered to a student who wants improve on their reading:
1) Short newspaper article reading
2) Expansion of mistakes made in reading and how to correct them (pronunciation, grammar, etc.)
3) Diction and Spelling test
4) Review of tutor lesson, possible homework.
