About Hugo

I'm currently studying for an MA in English Literature at Edinburgh. English Literature was my favourite subject in school and I have enjoyed taking it to degree level. I have tutored students in the past, from various ages and levels. I've helped them with their reading skills and taken them through their exams to earn top grades.

My favourite author is Truman Capote, I love American Fiction and metaphysical poetry. It's a bonus for me if you're studying books I've never read, as I love finding new books to read and discovering areas of literature new to me.

About the lesson

My name is Hugo, I'm an MA English Literature student here at the University of Edinburgh. My passion is helping students and young people (you) become better readers and writers, and helping to build the necessary skills to ace their (your) exams.

In our sessions, we'll go through what texts are on your course, and we'll figure out areas for development in your own skills and knowledge. As well as discussing the texts, we'll go through revision tips and how to use your exam prepartion time effectively. I will suggest some extra reading, for example critical sources, and I can help you with your coursework or other writing.

I was fortunate to have some fantastic teachers at school, so I gained A*s in all my A-Level and GCSEs in English Language and English Literature. Now I'm in Third Year at Edinburgh, so I've learned some useful lessons about how best to approach the subject.

My approach is positive and friendly, I want our lessons to be relaxed and enjoyable, whilst pushing you to be better and reach your potential. Usually, my lessons are one to two hours.

I'm happy to have a call so we can meet and chat before you sign up for sessions.
