About NiDene
Hi my name is NiDene. I love languages, learning new languages, and helping others become confident in listening to, speaking, writing, and reading English. I use to be intimidated by English as it was not my home language. However, I have come to learn that anyone is able to excel in English if they are willing to practice and work on their weaknesses. I have over 120 hours experience of being a university tutor for the English department at the University of Pretoria. As someone who can relate to being intimidated by the English language and having proved to myself that I can graduate with a distinction, I will guide and support you in your journey of improving and progressing with a patient and caring attitude.

Our first lesson will be used to determine what your English needs are. I will tailor the lessons to focus on your required help.
My teaching style is to focus on a good combination of teacher input and student output. This allows for a broad and narrow focus on grammar and text as well as the opportunity for the student to practice producing accurate and fluent language output.
I am proficient in and able to teach in English and Afrikaans. I have intermediate proficiency in Portuguese and can use it selectively.
A typical lesson will include a brief evaluation of how the student is doing. The lesson will briefly review the previous lesson (if necessary) and an introduction to the current lesson will be given. Depending on the nature of the need of the student, the lesson will either cover grammatical lessons, literature analysis, essay writing, etc. The lesson will end with a practice opportunity. Homework will be distributed if necessary.
My lessons are aimed at high school level, foreign language students learning English, or university level.
