About Joe

Hi! I'm Joe.

I'm a graduate who is looking to improve upon my teaching experience and knowledge, I'm particularly interested in teaching students who feel anxious when learning. People tell me that I am good at explaining things in a way that their teachers at school didn't; in a way that they can understand and remember.

I don't hold any formal teaching qualifications, and as such am willing to offer you a free lesson so that you can engage with me. This will allow you to gauge whether you would feel comfortable with my teaching style and ethos.

I enjoy teaching new things to individuals of different ages and understanding, it is fulfilling to have a student walk away more confident as a result of your teaching.

I'm experienced in tailoring my teaching style and examples to suit individuals for their background and knowledge, as well as adapting lessons on the go if we hit a snag or there's a particular subject you are interested in.

About the lesson

Hi! My name is Joe and I've only recently graduated from university with an English degree. I've always enjoyed learning new things but my real passion is getting others to engage with learning. I love the feeling that teaching someone something they love and engage with brings. I like to think of myself as friendly and easy-going, so if you are anxious about learning a subject please feel free to contact me prior to lessons and we can talk about it.

Learning should be a fun and engaging experience, one that you look forward to, not dread. My aim is to turn the things you are worried about into strengths for you.

Lessons will be easygoing and adaptive based on what you need and want. If you feel like it isn't intense enough, we will step it up a notch. If you feel like things are going too fast or getting too complicated, we can slow down until you feel that you're not weighed down anymore.

Each lesson starts with an objective, agreed upon by you prior to the lesson. From there I will explain and expand on what you need to know to achieve that aim, and show you how to use what you've learned. Then, ti

An example of a lesson might be as follows:

3-5 mins: Objective established and explanation of this goal given.

5-10 mins: Initial explanation of the subject and examples given using teaching aids.

10-20 mins: Now it's time to get into the grit of teaching; engaging with your understanding of what I've explained and taught.

10-20 mins: Content taken to a more complex and complicated level (if you feel comfortable at this point) through further examples and ideas.

Remaining time: Evaluating the lesson and how you feel it went, as well as leaving time for additional explanation and recap.
