About Meredith
Hi, I'm Meredith! I am a third year English, Spanish and Women's Studies student at UGA with a passion for reading, writing, language, and teaching. I've worked as a peer tutor since high school, assisting students with their Spanish questions and helping to prepare them for exams, presentations and papers. Last summer, I began working as a K-12 English and Math tutor at Kumon Learning, where I honed my skills in lesson plans and communication with students of all ages. Today, I work on two literary magazines at UGA, editing and publishing student creative work with my teams. As an English and Spanish student, I read and write academic work in both languages extensively, so I feel incredibly comfortable tutoring in these subjects. More than anything, I love the process of teaching and building the skills and confidence of my students!

As a former K-12 center assistant at Kumon Learning and a peer tutor at the high school and collegiate levels, my tutoring style varies widely depending on the individual. I customize my lesson plans according to the strengths and interests of the student: what concepts do they grasp well already, and how can I build upon that knowledge to help them understand something new? My priority is to maintain the comfort and build the confidence of my students, so every lesson is built with care and attention to their specific needs.
A typical lesson plan revolves around a question or problem the student might bring to me. I like to utilize any specific homework/classwork problems or essay feedback, for example, to provide useful, relevant teaching centered on the student's curriculum. If the student does not have any specific questions, I construct a lesson plan based on their broader Spanish/English education goals. My lesson plans may also utilize fun online tools and games to ensure the experience is as engaging as it is helpful.
My Spanish and English grammar, writing and speaking lessons are for any degree, level or age, but my specialty lies in middle school through college.

Meredith is an excellent tutor. She is patient and creative in how she explains concepts to students. In high school, she peer tutored me for English for 4 years. She helped me with my essay writing skills and I saw significant improvements in my grades. Additionally, she was my coworker at Kumon, and she interacted well with the kids and the kids loved her. She does not force one way of teaching if the student doesn't grasp it; she finds a way that the child understands. Meredith is a trustworthy teacher for anyone looking to sharpen their English or reading skills!
