About Espen
Hi, my name is Espen Hjelmeland. I have studied for a master's degree in industrial economics and have specialized in statistical analysis and energy physics. During my studies, I have worked with private tuition and group tuition at high school and university. In addition, I have experience in system development of IT systems. I am also a trained educator and have broad experience in teaching and private tuition from junior high school level and up to university level. My experiences have given me the opportunity to immerse myself in the theoretical foundation of the subject, but also to apply the knowledge in working life. Through my experience as a teacher, I have seen that students learn best if they themselves are allowed to discuss and reason about the mathematical methods they learn. In my teaching, I therefore emphasize that the student himself should be involved in the discussion so that he will have the in-depth understanding to use mathematics in other contexts than solving problems.
I also emphasize adapting the teaching to each other. single student so that the student will have challenges that satisfy the student's level and ambitions. Many students drop out of mathematics teaching in the school system due to a lack of knowledge at a lower level. In my lessons, such knowledge gaps must be discovered and closed. I firmly believe that everyone can learn mathematics as long as they have the patience to understand it. Therefore, I want to set up the best possible teaching plan so that all my students will feel the joy of mastering mathematics.
