About Phil
Having achieved a 1st in my Mechanical Engineering Master's, I'm keen to help develop the next generation of STEM students.
New to tutoring, but have experience working at children's summer camps and volunteering at cub scout sessions. Past experiences through university and my yearlong internship have given me the ability to explain technical concepts well.

As an engineering graduate, I am greatly interested in the applied side of Maths and Science. I think that the greatest way to learn, and retain this knowledge, is through an actual interest in the subject material. Real-life examples, pictures, and stories are included in my teaching, to relate the topics to the world around us.
However, exams are the obvious way to showcase your skills, and I'm a believer in meticulous preparation and studying of learning objectives and mark schemes. Having excelled in 11+ examinations, GCSEs and A Levels, I am familiar with the requirements for success.
Once overall objectives have been set, this is broken down into smaller tasks. Each individual lesson can then be structured to achieve small wins, helping to celebrate progress as it's made.
The mental route taken to an answer is often more important than the answer itself. For this reason, I use frequent questioning to lead a student through the steps towards each answer, engaging their ability to think logically as well as expressing their thoughts.
