About Manuel

My name is Manuel, and I want to help you command mathematics with skill and confidence while also having fun. I admit mathematics was not initially a subject that attracted me as a student, and I was apprehensive about succeeding as I navigated my education in engineering. However, when I started to connect the mathematical process with engineering, it truly gave me a different perspective of seeing mathematics as a toolset to represent assumptions, concepts, theories, and ultimately extract a real-world problem into a representation that can be solved or estimated mathematically. I am a seasoned engineering/technology leader with experience serving multiple industries, including medical devices (MedTech), industrial systems, smart automotive lighting, electronics manufacturing, and high-tech (virtual reality systems). My professional journey has exposed me to incredible experiences where I had the privilege of designing wireless radios for medical telemetry (patient monitoring systems), computed tomography (CT) detector systems, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) compatible patient entertainment and communication systems, magnetically resonant low-frequency antennas, and software-defined smart lighting solutions for industrial, recreational, and passenger vehicles. While maintaining an interest in technology and engineering, I expanded my career into the leadership realm, where I have served in engineering management, program management, and in executive leadership. My educational background is in electrical engineering, primarily focused in the area of electromagnetic theory and applied electromagnetics, which I earned via a bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez and Marquette University, respectively. I am also trained in business management and leadership via the completion of my executive MBA at the Jack Welch Management Institute - Strayer University. I am a lead or secondary inventor in several U.S. and international patents, and all are the result of solving challenging problems with unconventional approaches. Mathematics is a foundation of my professional achievements, and I want to show you that mathematics can make an incredible difference in your life. About the lesson

As your mathematics tutor, I will focus on elevating your ability and confidence, and adding meaning to how mathematics is applied in the real world.

My teaching methodology employs a three-phase approach, where we will work on assessing your strengths and needs, execute a strategy to raise your ability through deliberate and intentional practice, and progressively add challenges to expand your knowledge and technique.

Whether you are a middle school student, high school student, or navigating college, I am prepared to adapt to your learning preferences, listen to your particular needs, and partner with you to help you reach your desired goals.

As an experienced electrical engineer, mathematics is an essential toolset to solve real-world problems, and beyond serving as your tutor, I will teach you how to think analytically and critically through the intelligent use of mathematics.
