About Claire
Hi! Have you ever worked with a tutor before? I look at tutoring like getting private lessons for sports, music, and arts. Reading, writing, and math take practice just like swimming, playing violin, or drawing. I have worked with hundreds of students of all learning needs, and they say I am kind, fun, and help them grow! I am a full-time elementary special educator who tutors part-time. I hold a Bachelor’s in Psychology from DePaul University, a Master’s in Public Policy from Northwestern, and a Master’s in Elementary Education with Learning Behavior Specialist certification from North Park University.

I will prepare a series of tasks for each lesson that are based on your academic and emotional needs. These tasks will all require executive thinking skills as well. Sometimes I will demonstrate and explain, sometimes you will do an independent task, and we will also do collaborative tasks including games and projects. Each lesson will also allow for practice of coping strategies that can transfer to a school setting. Last, we always track and celebrate progress at the end of each lesson!
