About Charis

After acquiring a Primary Education Degree with a First Class Qualification, I began teaching Year 4 in Streatham which I have loved.

I've had the privilege to see children develop their stamina for writing in English as they grew in self-confidence as a result of my teaching, as well as being the catalyst to key light-bulb moments in Maths as misconceptions were unpicked in one-to-one sessions using child-friendly language and manipulative resources. This has even been successful in online tutoring sessions using screen sharing tools to bring the lessons to life and keep the child involved throughout.

Children are very capable when given the right support and that is why I am here! I recognise that the first step in every tutoring programme is developing unwavering self esteem. Hopefully with my teaching, you will see phenomenal results.

About the lesson

With up to date knowledge of how to teach children the fundamentals of Maths according to the UK curriculum, I confidently teach years 1 to 6 to help them reach their potential. I will plan bespoke activities and homework to help engage your child in their Maths and re-ignite their love of learning!

My approach is based on encouragement and learning from mistakes in an aim to tackle maths anxiety and reach the personal targets we will set together.

Charis is a "charismatic" (sorry) and a wonderful tutor. Our daughter got to know her fairly quickly and was very comfortable and excited to learn. We were interested in asking Charis for help after looking at her profile and so this proved to be a great choice. Our daughter says the homework set was very helpful, and built upon concepts introduced in earlier sessions. Everything was approachable, appropriate, and just what was needed at the moment. We were preparing for SATS, which went better than projected, and we have Charis to thank in no small measure for this. Charis went out of her way to help, even over holidays. Learning was challenging but made easier as it was fun. We can recommend Charis without reservation and can say there is no need to look further once you have found her. Full marks to Charis!
