About Houda

My name is Houda, and I am a fourth-year student in Concordia’s Early Childhood and Elementary Education program. I worked at a wonderful tutoring center for over 3 years, where I taught learners aged 4 to 12 how to problem-solve. I also volunteer as a social media manager for the Syrian Kids Foundation, a Montreal-based organization that aims to provide free education for Syrian refugees in Turkey. Indeed, Al Salam School is completely free for learners thanks to the generous donations from the Syrian Kids Foundation’s supporters. I have been practicing martial arts for over 15 years, where I also had the chance to work with children by assisting coaches. I have seen children grow in confidence in their bodies, and observed how this applies to other areas, such as social and academic skills. Teaching has been my passion for a very long time. Having had my own difficulties in school, my empathy and understanding of students’ struggles and successes enable me to help learners effectively and adjust to their needs. Throughout the years, I have met a variety of learners, which has helped me understand how people grasp concepts differently. I developed my teaching skills by explaining the same concepts in various ways according to each student’s needs. Additionally, I have improved my understanding of students' ways of thinking; Through my experience with many learners, I have become adept at identifying common misunderstandings, making it easier for me to spot and clarify concepts early on. Overall, I am motivated and excited to continue learning and growing with my students. It would be my pleasure to meet you!

About the lesson

Having taught over 30 elementary school students, I bring 4 years of experience and a passion for personalized, effective teaching. I tailor lessons to each child’s unique needs, ensuring engaging and impactful learning experiences.

To meet your child where they are and create the best learning plan, our first lesson will consist of an assessment of the learner’s level. Whether you are looking for enrichment or help catching up with peers, the lessons will be adjusted to each child’s needs.

During our classes, the goal is to provide students with the learning skills, resilience, and confidence needed to comprehend new concepts independently.

I always encourage regular communication with parents. You know your child best, and with my experience and educational background, together, we can help your child achieve positive results.
