About Alyssa
I have always wanted to be a teacher! I earned my Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood and Childhood Education in 2019 and my Masters Degree in Literacy Education in 2020. I have taught kindergarten, 1st grade, and 5th grade. My passion is helping students gain confidence in their reading.

My reading and writing instruction follows the Science of Reading. Initially I will start by getting to know your student as a reader. This will include a series of reading and phonics assessments to help me understand where to start with your student. Then, lessons will include an introduction where students will practice blending and segmenting sounds. This is achieved through games and movement, so students are learning valuable skills while having fun! Next, we will learn a new phonics skill and apply what we learned by reading decodable texts and writing sentences with the focus skill. Once students show mastery, we can move on to the next skill. I am certified to teach students aged 5-12. These lessons are intended for beginning readers, struggling readers, or readers who want a challenge.
