Getting To Know Ms. Shapiro

Hi There,
Welcome to my classroom. I am so excited to teach you this year. I would like to tell you some things about me.
I love theater, art, music, dance, and writing. I am an actress and a director. I have directed many school plays including the plays called “Frozen Jr. ” and “Beauty and the Beast”. I also directed “The Little Mermaid”, “Peter Pan”, “Willy Wonka Jr. “ and “Annie’s Kids”.
I also direct plays for my classes. You will be reading a play called “Tacky the Penguin” at the end of the school year. It will be a lot of fun.
I love the colors turquoise, emerald, violet, lemon, fuchsia, and crimson. I like to use these colors in my writing pieces, and you might see me wearing all of these colors in school.
My favorite holiday is Halloween. I love the fall. I like to cozy up by the fire and drink hot cocoa while reading a book. I also love how beautiful the leaves are during this time of year. I go to New Paltz every fall and go apple picking with my best friends Elisa, Gretchen, and Tammy. I also like to go to my sister’s house, and we watch Halloween movies together and go apple picking too during this time of year. She is also my best friend. Her name is Cheryl. She is a teacher too.
In my spare time, you can see me traveling to many places. I have been to the Bahamas, Mexico, Spain, The Canary Islands, Nevada, Canada, New Paltz, Oswego, Lake Ontario, Rochester, Baltimore, Binghamton, Albany, Turks and Caicos, The Jersey Shore, Washington, Virginia, Maryland, Connecticut, Cooperstown, and my favorite place… Bermuda!
I love cruising. It is so relaxing. I enjoy spending my summer at the ocean, swimming in my pool, illustrating and writing new stories, going to Cooperstown, and going to New Paltz. Both of these places are very peaceful and calm.
I also love all animals. I grew up with 4 cats, a dog, a fish named Debbie that lived for 21 years, a huge catfish, newts, and turtles. I wrote a book about all of the animals that I had in my life.
I am a published author. I have published 21 books. I love writing children’s books. I just published my 21st book over the winter break.
I can’t wait to get to know all of you. It is going to be a great year.

About the lesson

Interdisciplinary and creative teacher
Reading videos, songs, poems, and stories will be presented
The students will work with Google Classroom and be able to complete different assignments in the classroom based on the lessons that will be taught that day.
These lessons will be for young elementary school students who need assistance in learning how to read, write, and spell. They will be able to have fun while they are learning, and they will enjoy working on developing these skills to enhance their comprehension and be able to learn how to read and write independently.
These lessons will be taught to either a kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, or 3rd grade audience member.
