About Ash

Hi, I'm Ash!

I begun teaching because I am passionate about bringing music to education and creating a space of inclusivity. I believe that all students should be able to access music, and that it is a powerful tool to help learners build their confidence and life skills.

I have been casually practicing and playing instruments for almost 10 years now. I begun as a guitarist during my college studies in Music Performance and played as a rhythm guitarist for my first ever gigs around the local area. A couple years later, I moved onto bass, pursuing this instrument to an advanced level and also casually learning drums and piano.

I have a wide knowledge of theory, chords and physical techniques after studying for three years and earning my Bachelors in Popular Music. I then moved onto my Postgraduate Certificate in Education and began to pursue education, as I have always wanted to teach music. This course allowed me to develop my teaching methods, lesson planning, knowledge on theories, policies and legislations and overall become a much wiser person and better teacher.

About the lesson

I provide lessons to any ages, as I believe music should be accessible to everyone.

My teaching method is heavily dependent on your skill level, as I will never task you with something overwhelming or scary. The first lesson will serve as a diagnostic session. I will come prepared with different levels of learning, and we can chat about what you'd like to achieve, where you feel you're at and make a plan to help you improve at a comfortable pace.

After your first session, we will begin going through a 'Scheme of Work', which is a list of lessons I have planned that will allow for you to develop your skills. This will be personalised to your tastes too to create a more fun, interactive session.

Depending on if it is a remote or in-person session, I can provide an instrument and a space for us to practice. We can discuss any potential needs before any sessions as well.
