About Isla

My interest in economics developed from curiosity about how individual choices and public policies shape societies and opportunities. This curiosity led me to pursue an M.A. in Economics, where I developed strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of economic systems. Over 10 years of teaching, I have helped students navigate complex economic ideas with clarity and confidence. I believe economics should be taught as a practical, living subject rather than a collection of abstract graphs. I focus on discussion, real-world examples, and structured explanation to help learners truly understand concepts. I create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and expressing ideas freely. Beyond teaching, I stay engaged with economics through policy research, global economic reading, and ongoing analysis of current events. Teaching economics is fulfilling because I see students gain confidence in understanding complex systems and develop skills that help them think critically about the world around them.

About the lesson

Economics becomes engaging when learners understand how theories explain real-world decisions, markets, and global developments. My lessons focus on microeconomics, macroeconomics, supply and demand, market structures, national income, inflation, unemployment, and policy tools. I emphasize logical reasoning and cause-and-effect relationships so students can analyze economic issues with confidence.

Lessons are structured according to the learner’s level and academic goals. Beginners explore scarcity, opportunity cost, and basic market behavior through everyday examples. Intermediate learners study economic indicators, fiscal and monetary policy, and data interpretation. Advanced learners focus on case studies, evaluation questions, economic modeling, and exam-focused analytical writing. Each lesson includes discussion, applied questions, and guided feedback.

Economics lessons also strengthen critical thinking, decision-making, and awareness of global systems. Students learn to interpret information carefully and evaluate outcomes thoughtfully. My goal is to help learners feel confident applying economic thinking both academically and in real-life decision-making.
