About Jorge

Hi! I’m Jorge, an Economist with a Bachelor’s degree from ESAN University and postgraduate credentials in Finance and Accounting from Seneca College and Centennial College in Canada.

I’m a former Financial Analyst, and for the past 7+ years I’ve been tutoring university students in Finance, Accounting, Economics, and quantitative courses. I’ve worked with undergraduate, Master’s, and MBA students from universities across Canada, the US, Latin America, and Europe.

My approach is practical and personalized: I focus on understanding the concepts first, then applying them to the type of problems, exercises, and exams you actually face in your course.

I tutor university-level Economics courses from introductory to advanced levels, with a focus on Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Econometrics, and quantitative methods.

My sessions are tailored to your actual course. We can work directly from your syllabus, lecture notes, assignments, practice questions, or past exams and focus on the topics where you need the most help.

Areas I commonly cover include:

Microeconomics: Consumer Theory, Market Structures, Game Theory, General Equilibrium, Optimization and Calculus Applications.

Macroeconomics: IS-LM, AD-AS, Economic Growth Models, Fiscal and Monetary Policy, and Business Cycles.

Econometrics & Quantitative Methods: Introductory and Intermediate Econometrics, OLS, Hypothesis Testing, Regression Analysis, and Model Diagnostics.

Data Analysis: Excel and SPSS for economic modelling, data manipulation, and empirical problem sets.

During lessons, I use a digital whiteboard to work through equations, graphs, models, and exercises step by step. My goal is not simply to give you the answer, but to help you understand the reasoning so you can solve similar problems independently.

After each session, I can provide the notes and worked examples from our lesson in PDF, Excel, Word, or other useful formats.

Whether you’re building your foundations, preparing for a midterm or final, or working through a difficult topic, we’ll focus on what your course actually requires.

Details

This short trial lesson is a chance to review your course syllabus, identify the topics you’re struggling with, and work through a sample exercise together. You’ll also get a feel for how I explain concepts and solve problems step by step.

To make the most of the trial, please bring your course syllabus, lecture notes, or an exercise you’d like to understand.

Please note: The free trial is intended for learning and assessment purposes. I don’t complete graded assignments, live quizzes, or homework on a student’s behalf.

  • When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?

I developed my interest in my career since I was very young when I began to feel curious about how the world worked and the factors that were behind why various events happened in the markets, I also had some analytical and mathematical skills which took me to complement and be successful in what I do.
  • What makes you passionate about your subject?

I like teaching these courses because they are quite dynamic, they quite combine theory and practice and there is a constant contrast with what happens in reality, the truth is that one never gets bored when you start to understand each passage of the course.
  • What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?

I like it because it is quite philanthropic work because you help other people to improve their academic performance, which has a long-term influence on their quality of life. I also like it because it is not a boring job because you always meet new people with mostly different difficulties which makes it quite dynamic. What makes me a Superprof is feeling passion for what I do, so I always try to give my best so that the student can achieve their academic goals.
  • Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you? Please explain.

Yes, I had a math professor in college who always talked to us about pursuing our goals no matter what the odds. He was strict and he spoke to us at times with a lot of determination when we made mistakes, but that helped us to form character and move forward in everything.
  • What are your keys to success?

My key to success is having the will to do things, even if they are insignificant or challenging, you always have to give your best. In the same way, my key is to be patient and at the same time constant with my decisions and actions.
