About Riya

Hi, I’m Riya! I’m currently studying Economics and Management at the University of Warwick, having achieved an A* in A-Level Economics and A* in Mathematics.
I really enjoy tutoring because I know that Economics can often feel much harder than it needs to, particularly when you understand the content but struggle to turn that knowledge into marks in an exam. I want my students to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and telling me when something still doesn’t make sense.
I have experience tutoring GCSE and A-Level students, and I always adapt my teaching to the individual rather than using the same approach for everyone. I particularly enjoy helping students with essay writing, as small improvements to analysis, application and evaluation can make a huge difference to the quality of an answer.
My aim is not just to help students improve their grades, but to leave each lesson feeling more confident about Economics and knowing exactly what they need to do next.

About the lesson

My lessons are built around one goal: helping students understand Economics well enough to confidently apply it in an exam, rather than simply memorising content.
I tailor each lesson to the individual student, first identifying where they are losing marks and then working through those areas step-by-step. For A-Level Economics, I place a particular emphasis on essay technique: developing strong chains of analysis, linking different topics together, using diagrams effectively and producing evaluation that genuinely answers the question. We regularly work through past-paper questions and examiner-style answers so students understand exactly what separates an average response from a top-level one.
I achieved an A* in A-Level Economics and now study Economics and Management at the University of Warwick. I also have tutoring experience teaching both GCSE and A-Level students, so I understand that different students need concepts explained in different ways.
Lessons are typically one hour and are suitable for GCSE and A-Level Economics students of all abilities, whether you need help understanding the content, improving essays and exam technique, or pushing towards the highest grade.
