About Usmaan

Hi! I'm Usmaan and I'm currently in my final year at the University of Oxford studying Economics and Management; with four A* grades in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.

I have extensive experience in helping students in applying to economics-related degrees at Oxford and Cambridge. As well as this I provide A-level/GSCE tuition for Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics.

Qualifications

- TSA (Section 1): 83.8 (top 3% of all applicants)
- TSA Essay score: 72 (top 3% of all applicants)
- Economics interview score: 9.5/10 (top 20 interview scores out of 250+ interviewees)
- 2x Academic Scholar (awarded in 21/22 & 22/23 for outstanding academic achievement)
- Distinction awarded in Preliminary Examinations
- 4 A* in A levels: Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry
- 9 A* in GCSEs including Mathematics and all Sciences (Physics, Chemistry and Biology)

About the lesson

I specialise in preparing students for the Oxbridge application process for economics-related degrees including Economics & Management (Oxford), Philosophy, Politics and Economics (Oxford) and Economics (Cambridge).

My teaching style is highly structured and tailored to each student's needs. For entrance exams, I split the process into each aspect of the application process:

Personal Statement
- Discussions based on the students interests in order to understand how they can focus on a unique areas of their chosen subject
- Recommendations on specific courses (MOOCs), essay competitions, readings and other super curricular activities

Entrance Examination (TSA, ECAA & TMUA)
- In-depth sessions on the structure of the examination, different type of questions and their respective techniques
- LOTS of practice, the best way to maximise your score in entrance examinations is through practicing - both timed and untimed
- Working through past papers and errors to ensure the student is not making repeated mistakes and to focus on weak areas

Interviews
- Walking through the structure of the interview
- Focused sessions on the different types of questions that can be asked (Current affairs, economics-specific, brain teasers and logical reasoning)
- Several mock interviews to ensure the student is comfortable with thinking under pressurised conditions

I also provide tutoring for A levels, I employ proven learning techniques such as spaced repetition and active recall, supplemented with past paper questions. I conduct in-depth analysis of the specification and target students' weaknesses to ensure a comprehensive understanding of what is required to achieve top grades.

What sets my tutoring apart is its personalised nature. I adapt my teaching methods to suit each student's individual learning style, creating a supportive environment for growth and success.
