About David Carlo
Economics and finance sound complicated—but sometimes, they are just explained that way.
My approach is simple: plain English first, jargon and equations second. We break concepts down, connect them to real-world examples, and work through problems until the logic clicks.
I hold a Master’s in International Finance and Economics, work as a Senior Government Economist, and spent seven years in the hotel industry working across revenue, risk, sales, accounting, and operations. In other words, I have seen economics in textbooks, businesses, and government—and I can help you make sense of all three.
My lessons are for senior high school, university students, and professionals who want economics and finance explained without the headache.

Economics and finance can sound unnecessarily complicated. My approach is to first explain concepts in plain, everyday language before introducing the technical terms, equations, graphs, or models behind them. If you can explain an idea simply, you are already halfway to understanding it.
A typical lesson starts with identifying what you find confusing and breaking the topic down to its core idea. We then use practical examples, diagrams, and step-by-step analysis before working through academic or exam-style questions. I also like connecting theories to real-world situations, from how hotels price rooms and businesses make decisions to why governments and people worry about inflation, interest rates, exchange rates, and economic growth.
What sets me apart is my mix of academic, private-sector, and government experience. I hold a Master’s in International Finance and Economics, spent several years working in the hotel industry across revenue, risk, sales, accounting, and operations, and currently work as a Senior Government Economist involved in economic analysis, finance, and national development planning.
In short, I have seen economics and finance in textbooks, businesses, and public policy, and I enjoy making all three easier to understand.
