About Sam

Hey! I'm Sam and thanks for considering my profile. When I was younger, I wasn't confident and I struggled with identity and self-esteem. I really needed my 'thing' ...and learning an instrument gave me exactly that. Learning an instrument felt like my superpower - it gave me a sense of direction and accomplishment - it gave me a channel of expression and really boosted my confidence. I truly believe that EVERYONE has musical ability. ..it's just about finding it. The real pros understand that music is a language and how you express it in your own way is everything. No crazy solos or fancy shredding - you will be able to understand music and (speak) music. Express yourself in whatever mood takes you in that moment. I'm well-seasoned after playing music for 20 years as I started at 9 years old. I've played in bands, performing hundreds of times and touring all over Europe. Now I'm a full-time teacher whilst also writing lots of music.

About the lesson

What's most important above all else is that you enjoy the lesson and have fun!

My teaching philosophy is to inspire self belief - confidence and passion in every student.

I promise to teach you music using guitar as our medium, to be as patient as you need and to offer encouragement every step of the way.

We'll start with the basic fundamentals of music and guitar which will be the routes and trunk of the tree. Going for more complicated concepts too early is tough to learn because there's no context for them to hang off.

Perfect! I was terrified of learning a new instrument, but Sam has made it really easy. Not only does he always have a clear lesson plan and give you plenty of helpful resources for extra songs outside of lessons- but he's also very passionate about music & the guitar, and it makes you want to keep practising!
