About Daniel
I am a passionate student, centred educator with a strong belief in educational inclusivity. I am a fully qualified and experienced teacher with Qualified Teacher Status.
From 2006-2011, I was a successful Head Sociology at a high achieving comprehensive school in the Isle of Man and managed to obtain excellent results at Advanced Level and GCSE which exceeded the national average. This came about through hard work on the part of the students alongside teacher encouragement and a range of teaching approaches.
I have extensive experience teaching theoretical concepts as well as specific skills, and I have taught students of varying ages and cultural backgrounds.

I believe that as a teacher I have a responsibility to help all students become involved in the classroom and in learning. I use a variety of techniques to ensure that all students have a chance to express their thoughts. For example, to be certain that all the students are able to participate in the discussion I have displayed images of families or work situations and asked each person in the room to comment on the images and what they evoked. I have also asked my students to hand in comment cards about the reading or course material – they could read it out aloud or hand it to me directly. This option helped those students who were not as comfortable speaking in a large classroom and offered them another way to comment on the material. My teaching style includes the use of humour and real life examples to help students understand what they are learning. I have used contemporary readings, film clips, and current events to help students understand the material beyond clarifying language concepts and trying to ensure that all students are engaged with the material, I give my students the skills needed to not only investigate issues independently, but the skills they need to express and test their ideas. I am results driven and provide ample examination preparation.
