About Emily
I graduated from Duke University in 2015 with dual degrees in Economics and Political Science. While in college I spent all four years tutoring elementary school students in one on one and group settings to get them to grade level. In addition to my experience tutoring, I underwent training and was the primary instructor for 10 elementary students in a summer program to help at risk children combat summer learning loss. I created unique lesson plans and fostered a positive learning environment. I have a passion for helping students reach their fullest potential and find nothing more rewarding than helping someone on their academic journey.

My teaching method is adaptable to whatever the needs of my student are. I have always had a gift for explaining math in many different ways and taking a tailored approach to meet my student where they are. I like to create a positive environment that makes tutoring fun for elementary to middle school aged children. I have tutored math from elementary level through high school Algebra II. First I like to understand the methods that the students are being taught and then understand if that is conducive to the learning style of my student. After observing the learning style, I adapt or maintain the logic pattern to set my students up for success.
