About Kristen

Academic Excellence & Research Expertise I am Kristen Mehalko, a dual-degree candidate pursuing both a Juris Doctor and Master's in Bioethics at Case Western Reserve University, with an anticipated graduation in 2026. My academic foundation includes a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Boston College, where I developed a strong foundation in life sciences that I have since applied in both research and teaching contexts. As a published researcher and co-author on multiple peer-reviewed publications, I bring real laboratory experience to my tutoring practice. During my two years as Research Lab Technician and Lab Manager at the University of Southern California's Benayoun Lab, I conducted cutting-edge research in aging and reproductive biology while mentoring undergraduate students in advanced scientific methods. My research contributions have been published in respected academic journals, demonstrating my deep understanding of scientific principles and methodology. Teaching & Mentoring Experience My passion for education extends beyond the laboratory. At USC, I successfully mentored undergraduate researchers, helping them develop both technical skills and scientific writing abilities. Several students I worked with contributed to published research, a testament to my ability to guide learners through complex material to achieve meaningful outcomes. Currently, I serve as Executive Editor of Health Matrix: Journal of Law-Medicine, where I work daily with graduate students to strengthen their academic writing and analytical reasoning. This role has refined my ability to provide constructive feedback and help students communicate complex ideas clearly and persuasively.

About the lesson

I believe learning happens best when students understand not just what to learn, but why it matters. My approach combines rigorous academic foundation with real-world applications, drawing from my research experience, legal training, and multilingual background to create connections that make complex concepts stick.
