About Ben
Hi – I’m Ben Stinson! I’m a music producer & mix engineer from West Yorkshire, UK. I specialise in rock, punk, indie & singer-songwriter music. I manage and work from Yorkshire's longest-running recording facilities, Loom Studio (Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, Calvin Harris, Stereophonics).
I never went to uni for music production - I taught myself the basics of production, but I can completely put my career in music down to the mentorship from established producer Grant Henderson (Sony, Virgin, Warner). Grant's 1-1 tuition and detailed feedback on my projects was a game-changer for my progress, and I'm now at a stage I'm able to (and really want to!) pay this forward by teaching students myself.
Music and sound have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I started learning trumpet in primary school and have been assisting running live sound for local musical theatre shows since the age of 13. I play bass in originals alternative rock band Mood Organ and tribute act R U Monkeys.

Keen to produce your own music, but feel overwhelmed & don't know where to start?
I'll work with you on a one to one basis, teaching you how to make music in Logic Pro along with the fundamentals of mixing (EQ, compression etc.). We'll open up projects you've worked on and I'll give you personalised feedback on how to take your music to the next level.
Teaching can take place online via video call with a HQ lossless audio stream, or in-person at my studio (Loom Studio, Birstall). I'm fully DBS checked.
We can work completely at your pace, and you're totally in control of what to look at. We'll work on areas that need improving and to give you the practical help and experience needed to get your music sounding radio-ready, and to support you with advice and career support if you want to go on to work in music professionally.

Details
I teach from my recording studio in Birstall, WF17. In-person lessons can make the most of the facilities - we can open up your projects and listen on the monitors in a BBC acoustic standard treated room on fantastic speakers, and should we need to record anything we can use the studio's entire mic locker and isolated live room.
Online lessons can work just as well though - using a video call and a HQ audio stream link I can teach you in the familiar environment of your home studio.
