About Rebekah

I am a calm, friendly tutor who enjoys sharing my passion for Art History with others in encouraging and supportive sessions. Lessons are customised to the student's pace, level and interests, and can help with revision, coursework and any other interests or questions Art History related. Lessons are all online using video conferencing, but I help plan self-led study sessions to museums, galleries etc. to improve coursework and engagement with artworks.

I have considerable experience of the Art History academic environment, but also in using these skills in the heritage sector. My PhD was in 18th century Scottish art and design, particularly focused on landscape design theory, my Masters was similarly in British museum culture with a focus on the theoretical aspects of conservation. I tutored during this time, including marking and setting coursework, and I would enjoy supporting students to engage with art, art history or other topics related to the art world.

About the lesson

I help prepare students for exams and coursework, using a variety of slides, museum engagement exercises and written materials, from A Level to Postgraduate level. I am also interested in adapting this approach for adult learners and enthusiasts, or to work with artists seeking art history support. My main interests are in 18th- 19th century Scottish/British art, museum and display culture and designed landscapes and urban spaces, especially from mid-20th century Britain, but I encourage a flexible approach that discusses a wider syllabus as requested, and I have taught a much wider syllabus at undergraduate level.

Lessons typically last 40-60 minutes and are student-led. I have a doctorate in Art History with experience of undergraduate tutoring and marking, as well as some experience in heritage management, museum interpretation and exhibition design, especially around the research of historic buildings and architecture, including garden design and history.
