About Dinusha
I have tutored throughout my life, working with students of different ages, abilities, and learning needs, including students with special needs. I have supported siblings, peers, and my own children, and I am currently a doctoral student in clinical psychology. I use psychology-based, individualized strategies to break down material in ways that make sense, support attention and confidence, and help students build strong, lasting academic skills.

I am a doctoral student in clinical psychology with advanced training in how people learn, process information, and retain knowledge. I tutor children, teens, and older students across a range of subjects, including lower elementary math and English, science, and higher-level psychology courses.
What makes my tutoring different is that I use psychology-based learning strategies to break down material in ways that actually make sense to the student. Rather than relying on rote memorization, I focus on helping students understand how and why concepts work, so learning feels clearer and less overwhelming.
For younger students, I use developmentally appropriate, engaging methods that support attention, confidence, and foundational skills. For teens and older students, I emphasize organization, critical thinking, study strategies, and deeper conceptual understanding. I adjust my approach based on each student’s learning style, strengths, and challenges.
My goal is not just to help students complete assignments, but to help them build confidence, independence, and lasting learning skills that carry over into school and beyond.
