About Aminur

I have been tutoring for a long-time for the 11+. I myself passed the 11+ exam and attended King Edwards School (the independent school in Edgbaston) many years ago. Soon after that I began tutoring my younger siblings as a hobby! They did also have a professional tutor and eventually passed their exams for King Edward High School for Girls, King Edwards School and Queen Mary's Grammar School.

Many years later I tutored my 3 daughters who all did extremely well (the second eldest scored 266 in 2017). The eldest has left King Edward VI Camp Hill Girls and is studying Medicine. The second is currently at the school and the third will be starting there in Sep 2024.

I did also coach and mentor my eldest daughter who achieved a top 2% score in her UCAT exam when applying for Medical School and received offers to study Medicine from all of the four Universities that she had applied to. The same daughter achieved a grade A in Maths GCSE after I tutored her at age 14 (2 years before before she was due to sit the exam at her school).

In the past I have run a weekend tuition class and done 1-2-1 tutoring for children outside of the family with the highlight being a 10-year old who achieved a grade C in Maths GCSE with only 2 months' of tuition.

In a voluntary role I work as a Medical Assessor for Aston Medical School and have been involved in the interview process for student applicants. I also supervise and give feedback to GP trainees in my workplace.

And if you are wondering - I tutor and do voluntary work alongside my main profession as this helps to add variety and prevents burn-out!

About the lesson

I can relate to my students/trainees easily and bring out their potential within a short space of time. I like to see how my students think and am good at assessing their strengths and weaknesses quickly and can give targeted feedback and help them to focus in the right way using questions, appropriate revision and varied methods to keep learning interesting.

I now oversee the production of my own 11+ questions but use a variety of other resources too.

In summary: I am able to provide 11+ tuition (Years 3-6), Maths GCSE tuition (any age) and help with UCAT/Medical School interview techniques and personal statements.
