About Christopher

I have always had a passion for teaching, realising from an early age my own aptitude for learning and using this to help others do the same. Following A-levels in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, General Studies and an AS level in Geography, I went on to further education studying Natural Sciences at Peterhouse, University of Cambridge, gaining an MA (Cantab), then Medicine, as a graduate, at Wolfson College, University of Cambridge. During my time studying medicine, I was employed as a Supervisor - Cambridge speak for teacher of university students in small group sessions - exploring course material, setting and marking work to test understanding and prepare students for their end of year exams. I was fortunate enough to supervise at Newnham College, Cambridge, in the subject of Biology of Cells (Biochemistry) and after a successful first year I was also asked to supervise in an additional second subject, Physiology of Organisms. I continued to supervise these subjects for 5 academic years also being recruited to supervise at Corpus Christi College and St John’s College, Cambridge. Following my graduation in 2013, alongside my own continuing medical education, I was able to help the next generation of doctors with their training by providing opportunistic bedside teaching in addition to contributing to more structured teaching programmes run by hospital education centres, participating in both group teaching sessions and individual pastoral “buddy” schemes. Roll on a few years and the world was turned upside down by the Covid pandemic and I found myself volunteering my tutoring skills to help out friends and family with school age children in their upcoming GCSE’s, A-levels, International Baccalaureate and undergraduate medical exams. Having been reminded of how much I enjoyed teaching and the extent of the positive feedback I received I was motivated to turn my attention towards starting my own tutoring business which is what I now do full time.

About the lesson

I tutor in biology, chemistry and physics from key stage 3 to A level and maths up to GCSE. Teaching sessions are personalised to you, designed specifically to meet your goals and needs whilst making learning interesting and fun. Sessions are usually an hour but can be up to 2 hours on request and take place on Zoom with the use of online whiteboard functions to utilise drawings and diagrams to aid understanding. I will not do your homework for you, but can help you with it to understand any gaps in your knowledge and how to present the answer in your own style.

Perfect! Chris was a great tutor for my son . I was unsure how my son would get on with individual tutoring and whether he would sustain attending the lessons . However Chris built up a good report with my son, his sense of humour and flexible and responsive style of teaching kept my son engaged and willing to actively participate in his lessons . This coupled with Chris’s patient, caring and kind approach makes him an ideal tutor for people of varying ages and abilities.

Really can’t recommend Chris highly enough! As a doctor he is highly qualified and is also one of the friendliest most caring people you could meet, an ideal combination for a tutor. Our son Simon has had a three sessions with him so far and we’ve been really impressed with how much he’s learned and how much he’s enjoyed the experience.
