About Sara

I have a degree in foreign languages and cultures, as well as in communication and anthropology. I have been studying and learning the Chinese language for about 10 years. I have lived in China for 5 years and there I have taught Italian language to Chinese students of all ages (children, teenagers, university + +, working adults).

I am very clear which methods are most effective for teaching and learning the Italian language and also which are the reference contents for each level (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2). I can also offer lessons on specialized vocabulary on various topics (design, art, architecture, fashion design ...)

I am a certified examiner for all the certification exams of the Italian language, CILS, CELI, CERT, PLIDA. I am able to do exam preparatory lessons.

Except for teaching, I have also learned a lot. I learned how hard it is to learn Italian, but how fun it can be! I have learned to simplify problems for my students and making it easier for them to overcome them. I learned that by teaching your own language, you can discover similarities and differences between your own culture and others, from which we can always learn.

About the lesson

The teaching method is not based on grammar and instead favors conversation and learning on an intuitive basis.

Grammar needs to be explained, especially to adult learners. Because we need an analytical outline of what we need to learn. But this explanation has to be quick and easy. And there must come AFTER the space for conversation, in which the student uses and consolidates the language he knows how to use. AND AFTER having encountered the grammar content that he has to learn and with an exercise / game and having tried to intuit its nature.
Discovering for yourself and having fun is always the best way to learn, as well as the most enjoyable!

The same method, in general, also applies to young students (children or adolescents), but with some variations (again + game, again - explanation).

The lesson is structured around what the student most needs or wants to learn first of all.
After a cognitive meeting to understand the student's level, needs, interests, we will decide together which objectives he wants to achieve and in how many lessons (from 1 to infinite, e.g. 10 or 20).
Then I'll make a specific plan, suited to your needs.
In each lesson I will first give a lot of space to the conversation in the language, not less than 10/15 minutes. Free conversation and guided by a topic, according to the needs of the student.
Then space for questions or clarifications on topics from the previous lesson / on the assignments (already corrected and sent to the student) - 5/10 minutes.

Then introduction of the topic of the day, through dialogue / images / game / ... (10/15 minutes). Only at the end of the exercise, explanation of the grammar rule of the day (max 10 minutes). Then rule fixing exercises (5/10 minutes).

Then cultural exercises / games (5/10 minutes).

About an hour of class, with 10 minutes for questions or to give space to the activity that you liked or need the most.
