About Poppy

I am a violin tutor with over 7 years of experience and a Graduate Diploma in Violin Pedagogy. I focus on integrating music theory, aural skills, and sight reading into practical violin practice. My lessons are designed to prepare students for music theory exams and to strengthen their understanding of advanced harmony. Scales, intervals, and harmonic concepts are taught through structured bowing and fingering exercises. I work with students aiming to excel in music exams and those wanting to improve overall musical fluency. My approach ensures that technique and theory go hand in hand. Sight reading exercises are incorporated to build confidence and accuracy. I emphasize ear training to enhance musical perception. Lessons are tailored to each student’s level and goals. I also provide guidance in phrasing, articulation, and expressive playing. Students learn to connect theoretical knowledge with practical violin skills. My aim is to help you become a well-rounded and confident violinist. Together, we develop both technical mastery and strong musical understanding.

About the lesson

My teaching approach focuses on developing precise pitch and a refined ear for intonation. I emphasize intonation accuracy and playing in tune across all positions. Drone practice is used to strengthen pitch recognition and finger placement. Lessons are designed for aspiring pop stars and classical vocalists alike. I tailor guidance to ensure every note is perfectly in tune. Bowing technique and finger placement are integrated with pitch exercises for clarity. Students learn to connect what they hear with what they play. I include exercises to improve tone quality and expressive phrasing. Sight reading, scales, and arpeggios are used to reinforce intonation. I focus on building confidence while maintaining accuracy. Lessons are interactive, engaging, and designed to challenge your ear. I encourage students to listen deeply and play with precision. Together, we make your violin sing beautifully.
