About Anouck
Hi there! I hold a degree in English literature and creative writing from the University of Virginia and a certificate from the University of Columbia's Publishing Course. Since graduating, I have freelanced as a copy editor and writer. Writing, reading, and studying English literature is my life's passion. I believe in helping students discover their own unique relationship to literature: you might surprise yourself with how much you can enjoy reading those old-timey, stuffy classics like Pride & Prejudice or Macbeth. Succeeding in English class is all about storytelling. I can teach you how to analyze stories, talk about stories, write about stories, enjoy stories, and tell your own story.
I care about the individual needs of all students, and I promise to customize my lesson plans according to your unique learning needs and any learning disorders you might have.
In my free time, I love cooking, drawing, sending my friends and family hilarious tik-toks, and watching detective shows.

There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to education. As someone who struggled with a learning disorder throughout high school, I know this first-hand. I will work with each student to identify their learning style (visual, auditory, kinesthetic, etc.) and/or learning disorders (ADD, dyslexia, slow processing, etc.) and adjust my lesson plan accordingly. I promise to foster a safe and supportive environment customized to each student's unique learning needs. English is my passion, and I am committed to helping students reach their academic potential, build their self-confidence, and find joy in reading and writing.
I provide tutoring services in English literature for high schoolers (standard and advanced placement) and undergraduates. I provide assistance with essay writing, reading, literary analysis, and much more. I hold a B.A. in English literature and creative writing, and I am well-versed in most of the literary classics assigned to high schoolers and first/second-year undergraduate courses.
Example Lesson Plan: Writing an Essay - Literary Analysis
- Read through assignment together
- Discuss reading material with student: themes, motifs, relevant literary movement, characters, plot. Identify what most interests the student
- Assist student in brainstorming activities: customize to student's individual needs (ex: mind-mapping or Venn diagram for visual learner)
- Help student develop strong thesis statement
- Practice locating and analyzing relevant quotations from text with student
- Provide student with easy-to-use essay outline template and other helpful materials: (ex: guide on source citation)
- Create detailed to-do list with student to identify their next steps and ensure their success!
