I am a dedicated criminology major with a passion for helping others succeed academically. As vice president of the XTE Criminal Justice Club, I have developed leadership and communication skills that enhance my ability to tutor effectively. I believe in a personalized and interactive approach to tutoring. My teaching method revolves around understanding the student's learning style, whether visual or auditory, and adapting my lessons to match their needs. I emphasize active learning by encouraging students to ask questions, solve problems in real-time, and apply their knowledge to practical scenarios. This not only helps them retain information better but also boosts their confidence!
A typical lesson plan starts with a quick review of the previous session to reinforce learning and identify areas that need more focus. Then, I introduce new material by connecting it to concepts the student is already familiar with. I incorporate interactive exercises, like quizzes or discussions, to ensure the student remains engaged and can apply what they’ve learned.
What sets me apart is my ability to relate to students as both a peer and a mentor. As a college student myself, I understand the challenges of balancing coursework with other commitments. I also place a strong emphasis on building a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable expressing confusion or frustration.
