About Fuyun
I have been a dedicated and experienced Mandarin tutor for over eight years and am currently pursuing my Ph.D. in Sociology at Zhejiang University, Hangzhou. I received my BA degree in English-Chinese Translation, and since then, I have been facilitating students to learn and experience Mandarin. I later earned my MA in East Asian History and Literature from the University of Southern California. During my time in Los Angeles, I helped both children and adults engage deeply with the Chinese language and culture.

For example, we might explore contemporary social issues in China through articles or short videos, followed by a discussion to practice speaking and listening skills. Writing tasks often include reflective essays or opinion pieces, helping students to refine their grammar and style while developing a critical perspective on Chinese culture, history, and society.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my ability to provide an immersive learning experience, encouraging students not just to learn the language but to deeply engage with the context in which it's spoken. My lessons are designed for intermediate to advanced learners who want to improve their language skills while gaining a deeper understanding of Chinese culture and society.
