About Amanda

I am a qualified Maths teacher (PGCE) and former Data Scientist passionate about making Mathematics clear, accessible, and engaging. Having applied Maths and Statistics in industry for over 15 years, I excel at breaking complex, abstract concepts down into logical, intuitive steps.

About the lesson

I specialise in supporting Key Stage 3 and GCSE students to build lasting confidence, bridge learning gaps, and master exam techniques. Every learner is different, so I tailor my approach using resources targeted to your child’s level—whether they are securing a solid Grade 4/5 pass on the Foundation tier or pushing for top Grades 7–9 on the Higher paper.

My lessons place a strong emphasis on past paper practice and understanding the nuances of major exam boards (AQA, Edexcel, OCR) so students feel entirely familiar with their paper layout on exam day. Above all, I create a supportive, welcoming environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, learning from mistakes, and stretching themselves to reach their full potential.

Lessons typically last one hour and combine clear explanations with collaborative problem-solving. We begin by reviewing the previous week's topics and going through homework to address any lingering questions. I then introduce core concepts using targeted questioning to check understanding, followed by guided practice where we work through problems together. Finally, we wrap up with a concise summary of the session and I set homework to help embed learning for the week ahead.
