About Wilmer

My name is Wilmer García, I have a degree in Philology and Languages with an emphasis in German from the National University of Colombia. Within my general interests are the teaching and learning of foreign languages, the dissemination of German and Colombian cultures. I have eight years of experience teaching the aforementioned, more specifically with regard to the German language. I also have experience in pedagogical application processes, curricular, disciplinary didactic, evaluation systems and creation of didactic material. I have taught in different institutions such as schools, language institutes and universities. I have extensive experience in the use and teaching of the German language and in counseling and support for the preparation of proficiency exams in the German language such as Start Deutsch 1 and 2 and TestDaF.

About the lesson

Currently my interest is to use and investigate different methodologies in the teaching process in relation to language immersion through new technologies, which are so booming in our current evolution, especially the known ICT's. As well as the implementation of many of these in the task of learning in the classroom and autonomous. On the other hand it awakens my interest as a teacher concerning everything that has to do with learning and teaching mediated by good humor in the classroom. In our modern and digital age, the use of humor and laughter is something important. Within many contexts of traditional education, it has been given little importance or stigmatized. Multiple studies suggest that laughter causes very beneficial physiological responses in our body such as the release of endorphins, which have been proven to maintain the elasticity of the veins and arteries, in addition to stimulating the brain and its plasticity, also the system limbic or hypothalamus. On the other hand, laughter reduces cortisol, which depresses our immune system and is released especially in situations of stress. Nowadays it is widely proven that these bodily responses are not only states of mind, but also biochemical realities. Laughter, as a positive emotion related to joy, is one of them and offers a remarkable reward in learning since memory also works more optimally when those already mentioned are released.
