About Nicole

My name is Nicole Evans. I am 44 yrs old and have been teaching Kindergarten to Year 9 in Western Australia for the past 19 years. I have a B Ed (ECE), am fully registered with the Teachers Registration Board of WA and have a valid Working with Children Check. I have a passion for teaching English and Maths in the Early Years and Primary School. I have extensive training and experience using PLD Literacy, Seven Steps Writing, Talk4Writing, Science of Reading, The Writing Revolution and The Grammar Project. I have 19 years teaching with Numero, Paul Swan and some experience teaching with Prime Maths. I am available to tutor children in years Kindergarten to Year 8 both during the day and after school hours.

About the lesson

Hi my name is Nicole Evans. I am 44 yrs old and I was a mainstream ECE and Primary classroom teacher for 19 years. I began tutoring face to face 2 years ago. I have found it such a rewarding process. The students that I have worked with have reported massive improvememts in reading and spelling skills, with one student increasing their reading age by 18mths with 6 months tutoring.

I have a passion for teaching Primary English and Maths as I believe everyone deserves at least a functional level of understanding and that every student has the right to reach their true potential.

In my 19 yrs teaching experience I experienced the Education system become more data driven and seen a massive push down in expectations of younger years. Students are getting left behind and are losing confidence in themselves and in turn losing their natural curiosity and internal drive to learn. I want to give that back to students and with the overpacked curriculum I have found it more and more difficult to do that in a traditional school setting. But I have found that I have been able to do that in a one on one tutoring situation. I can give you the time to truly learn concepts and skills in a calm and nurturing environment. I look forward to working with you.
