About Annemiek
As a person who grew up in the Netherlands, I've always been close with English. At school, I had six languages and after graduating I kept up with learning 10 languages. My favorite subject in school was ancient Greek, not in the least because of the different alphabet. Although I enjoyed seeing patterns that knowledge of Latin and Spanish gave me, connecting European languages, I fell for Chinese because it was so different from what I knew at the time. I will forever be a cheerleader of broadening knowledge and crossing cultural boundaries.

I regard a language as a "database". The more input you get, the more output you can give. This doesn't mean just cramming vocabulary - it means immersing yourself into another language. My lessons are very analytical and goal-oriented. I will make an inventory together with you on what you'll need to learn, devise a plan and if necessary offer you tools for time management. When I see an opportunity for deepening a broader understanding, e.g. culture or history wise, I will inject a comment. This makes it more fun and easier to remember. I work best with adult students who are eager to learn and improve their skills, for travel abroad or for business purposes, but I can also teach from age 12 and up.
