About Frederick
Hi, I’m Freddie! I’m a first-year History student at the University of Manchester, and I’m passionate about helping students become more confident and successful in History. I’ve had experience tutoring students during school, which I really enjoyed because I love being able to explain difficult topics in a simple and engaging way. I’m sociable, confident and approachable, so I aim to make lessons relaxed and enjoyable while still keeping them focused and productive. I want to teach because I know that History can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially when it comes to remembering lots of information or knowing how to structure essays. My goal is to help students build their knowledge, improve their technique and develop the confidence to tackle exams and essays independently.

My lessons are designed to build both strong historical knowledge and the skills needed to communicate it effectively in essays. With a strong background and expertise in History, I focus on helping students develop a clear understanding of key events, themes, interpretations and historical debates, while also perfecting their essay technique and structure. I place particular emphasis on constructing strong arguments, developing analytical points, using evidence effectively and ensuring that every paragraph directly answers the question. Alongside essay writing, I provide practical advice on knowledge retention, helping students use techniques such as active recall and structured revision to retain information more effectively. My aim is to make students more confident, independent historians who can recall knowledge accurately and apply it confidently under exam conditions.
