About Dom
I am confident and eloquent, regularly debating at university and participating in seminars. I have wide-ranging, extensive knowledge of humanities and social sciences, having achieved 3 A* grades at A level, and consistently achieving first class honours at degree level, as well as publishing articles for numerous forms of media. I specialise in history: notably modern (Northern Ireland,Cold War and its consequences, imperialism/colonialism, the world wars, the impact of ideologies, the 1930s, 20th C Britain, Russia 1850-1957, the former Yugoslavia, 20th C sub Saharan Africa, Middle Eastern politics, terrorism and paramilitarism, the politics of identity and ethnicity, 20th century USA), but also have researched the fall of Rome and the rise of Islam in late antiquity, as well as Medieval Britain from the 14th to 16th centuries. I also combine history with the social sciences via sociological history (modernisation, bureaucratisation, revolutions, industrialisation, secularisation, themes of power, class etc) and excel in politics (ideologies, comparative politics, theory, international relations)

My teaching method would be based on a set up that corresponds to an Oxford style tutorial; 1 on 1 communication, analysising contentious issues and recurrent debates within scholarly work and research. An ability to consider arguments that encompass different viewpoints is integral to study, but also one should aim to develop original ideas and thoughts to contribute to research and work
