About Tianjing
My name is Tianjing (most people just call me TJ) I am currently a second year student at UCL studying for a BSc Medical Sciences degree. A dedicated and approachable science tutor that can help you reach your academic goals with confidence :) In my spare time I am a transition mentor for the lower year students, I play for UCL's football team, I enjoy going to the gym and attending seminars on modern sporting rehabilitation techniques and physiotherapy. I am very inquisitive naturally and love to nerd out on movies and science documentaries like Blue Planet. Hopefully my engaging and dynamic lessons will inspire you to love science as much as I do!

As a tutor for GCSE Sciences and A Level Biology, I take a highly personalised approach to teaching — focusing on tailored revision strategies that suit each student's learning style, confidence level, and academic goals. Whether a student is building foundational understanding or refining their exam technique, my lessons are interactive, motivating, and challenge-driven. I believe that engagement and relevance are key, so my sessions go beyond the curriculum when appropriate, helping students connect scientific ideas to real-world applications. I have mentored A Level students in Biology and led a student-run dissection club, where learners explored anatomy through hands-on activities — fostering curiosity and deep understanding. My teaching methods include: >Active recall and spaced repetition for long-term retention. >Past paper practice and mark scheme breakdowns. >Diagrams, animations, and model-based teaching to visualise complex topics >Question-led discussions to build critical thinking Lesson Format: Lessons typically last 60–90 minutes, depending on the student’s schedule and intensity of preparation required. Sessions are structured but flexible, and always include time for questions and reflection. Who I Teach: GCSE and A Level students (ages 14–18), at any stage — from those needing support with the basics to high achievers aiming for Grade 9 or A*. With each student, I aim to build confidence, scientific fluency, and a genuine interest in the subject.
