About Addylyn
Hi, I’m Addylyn! I study biology in the Pacific Northwest and currently work as a university chemistry tutor and researcher. My research has focused on microbiology, biochemistry, and DNA extraction, which has strengthened my ability to think critically, solve problems creatively, and connect science to real-world issues. I love bringing those same skills into tutoring — helping students see that chemistry isn’t just in a textbook, but alive in the world around us

My teaching style is adaptable to each student’s needs, combining direct instruction with inquiry-based learning. I use a “small-to-big” approach, starting with core ideas and building toward complex concepts, with a mix of visual and auditory strategies. My lessons are ADHD-friendly, focused on understanding over memorization, and grounded in real-world examples that make biology meaningful and easier to retain. Each lesson begins with a review of the student’s goals and current understanding, followed by a targeted explanation and guided practice. What sets me apart is my professional experience as a college-level tutor and my ability to work with students of all ages and learning needs. My tutoring is best suited for middle school through college-level biology, including honors, AP, and introductory university courses.
