About Vivian

Hello! I am a creative and critical writer who has been tutoring for five years, specialising in supporting students at the undergraduate level and beyond based on my experience achieving a Distinction for my Master’s degree at UCL and graduating Cumma Sum Laude for my undergraduate degree, both of which strongly emphasised writing. I have worked as a writing consultant at the George Washington Writing Centre after completing courses in pedagogical methods, writing strategies, and writing across disciplines. I have also volunteered as a multilingual tutor with the District of Columbia Public School system. I offer worldwide services ranging from non-native English support, postgraduate essay tutoring, creative writing, long-term project management, and personal statement editing services. My tutees have achieved top-level marks, published manuscripts, and received offers from top undergraduate, postgraduate, medical, and law school programmes in the United States and the United Kingdom. I am dedicated to guiding you in your writing journey no matter where you are starting. My belief is that an environment where tutees feel safe and comfortable will prompt them to actively participate more in a session and feel more confident in sharing their voice, especially if they are multilingual writers or first-time tutees. My goal is to treat each tutee and their assignment on a case-by-case basis because every student’s background is unique. While tutoring is a personal and individualised process, general tutoring strategies and concepts can be applied to different clients. With this in mind, I offer a mixed directive and non-directive approach with clients where I ensure my client gets their voice across on the page by prompting them to dive deeper into their writing and analysis with my guidance. I strongly believe that every writer has their own strengths and that there is no one right way to write. Therefore, I aspire to be a guiding voice for my clients on their writing journey. About the lesson

I offer extensive and bespoke support tailored to each tutee to help them develop the skills to become a better writer. I will help each tutee discover and improve on a writing method that works for their learning style. I support students of any age writing in any genre. I have supported and learnt from tutees writing assignments and applications in the fields of engineering, nursing, literature, geography, history, international relations, archaeology, fine art, business, and more. My lessons are structured to make you a better writer, not just produce better writing. I will base my lessons on a tutee’s past writing samples and personal and/or academic goals so I can identify skills where they can improve and provide a structured timeline based on milestones. A typical lesson will include support with brainstorming, planning, writing structure, flow, and editing. I provide asynchronous written feedback and live one-to-one tutorials typically running from 30 minutes up to one hour. My goal is to create a warm and comfortable environment for your voice to be heard. I’m here to help translate your thoughts into writing – whether it be from your mind to the page or from one language to another – so let’s get writing together!
