About Joh

I am a designated CPA with an MBA, and various continuing education courses, a strong believer in always learning. I have more than 20 years of professional experience in accounting, budgeting, cash flow management, cost control, financial reporting, and strategic decision-making.

My career has included extensive work in the Canadian not-for-profit sector, where I have supported organizations with fund accounting, restricted funds, audit preparation, government reporting, and financial leadership. Positions ranging from Financial Analyst to the Executive level. Early in my career, I also had the opportunity to teach at the University and College level.

This background allows me to bring both technical knowledge and real-world perspective to students, CPA candidates, professionals, board members, and not-for-profit leaders who want to strengthen their understanding of accounting and finance.

About the lesson

My teaching style is practical, patient, and focused on helping students build real confidence with accounting and finance concepts. I break complex topics into clear, manageable steps and use real-world examples from professional experience so the material feels relevant, not abstract. To tell the story behind the numbers so informed decisions are made.

Each session is adapted to the student’s goals, whether they are preparing for exams, working through CPA case writing, strengthening university coursework, or improving financial skills for a not-for-profit role.

I encourage questions, check for understanding throughout the lesson, and aim to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes, clarifying difficult concepts, and progressing at a pace that works for them. My lessons are unique to each student, as each student and situation is different.
