About Stephen

I am a recent Computer Science and Maths graduate from Loughborough University. I have in the past tutored one student at Foundation GCSE level, helping them to achieve the highest possible grade.

I appeared on the TV Show 'Countdown', winning 5 days/shows in a row. I have also competed in School Maths Competitions, ranking consistently highly, most notably placing Top 50 in the UK, when I was in Year 11.

I have always been very highly achieving at Mathematics, which I believe does not inhibit my ability to teach (as some people believe!), because I often have multiple different angles to show students of why they are doing what they are doing. I also have a great deal of experience with helping students because of this, since I was often turned to by my fellow pupils when they had questions in Secondary School.

I am 22 years old so have sat the newer (1-9) Maths GCSE as well as A-Level Maths and Further Maths recently, giving me first hand experience of what is needed to excel in these Secondary School/College level maths courses.

About the lesson

I am offering maths lessons to anyone in Secondary School (Ages 11-18), no matter of what your current attainment is!

My tutoring is based on students' understanding. I am firmly of the belief that students who understand why they are doing something, are far more likely to be able to replicate it again, than those who try to learn maths by rote.

I also place a great emphasis on watching the students do practice questions. This is one of the benefits of 1 to 1 tutoring because I can offer dedication to a single student, giving them hints at the point where they need them, and also helping to catch mistakes should they occur.

Lesson costs are by the hour, but include the factor of substantial work I will put in outside of the contact hours of either preparation and marking.

Details

Prices are independent of the level of the student. Cancellations are free if more than 24 hours before the scheduled time, and are charged at only 30% within 24 hours.
