About Orval

Completing a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics at Cornell University provided the foundation for my approach to teaching. Do you ever feel like the logic behind math problems is designed to confuse you on purpose?

I work with people starting from zero and those stuck halfway through complex concepts. Tutoring began as a favor for a friend's child and simply never stopped. My methodology relies on being friendly and rigorous.

I guide students through mental math, conceptual learning, homework help, geometry, competition math prep, trigonometry, statistics, probability, algebra, word problems, and SAT or ACT math prep. It is often just about finding a rhythm that works for you.

About the lesson

Getting past those common testing traps, you will see the patterns the College Board expects. It is actually just a game of identifying what they want to see, which feels better once you practice the movements.

I provide a 10.0 out of 10.0 level of detail to ensure you catch the nuances in every question type. During our initial free trial class, we identify your specific weak areas to build a roadmap. My strategy focuses on one clear thing to try before the next meeting to ensure steady progress.

We will dismantle the intimidation factor until the numbers stop looking like enemies. Since I started this work, the goal has remained making the material less scary than it seems right now. You will find that these rigorous habits translate well to your actual exam performance. Let us get started on this prep work together.
