About Ruby

I believe that every student can excel when concepts are explained to them in the way that they understand best - so I am committed to helping students to understand areas that they struggle with until it clicks and they have their 'aha' moment. I feel that the right, supportive tutor can help students to unlock new heights in their academic journeys and I want to help my students to achieve this.

No question is ever silly and I want students to feel comfortable to communicate with me about the topics or skills they struggle with. I like to have a laid-back, fun yet mutually respectful environment when tutoring, so that students enjoy lessons as opposed to dreading them.

I like to work with students and tailor my approach to their individual needs so that they get the most out their sessions.

My academic achievements and career trajectory are a result of positive tutoring experiences when I was at school, so I want to pass on the same gift to help you to achieve your dreams too!

About the lesson

I work to establish a positive rapport with my students so that they enjoy tuition, feel comfortable in communicating the areas that they find challenging and get the most out of sessions.

I take a structured approach to tuition, mapping out a student's goals, strengths, weaknesses and subsequent areas to work on, noting any deadlines or upcoming exam dates to work towards. I discuss and agree lesson plans and approaches with students to gain consensus and transparency, and work with them to understand their preferred ways of learning. If a student struggles to understand a concept, I simply find another way to communicate it until it clicks! For students with upcoming exams, I integrate exam practice into all sessions so that they gain key exam skills and experience.

I find that 90-minutes provides the most fruitful engagement.

I have diverse tutor experience, both in the UK and abroad, with students of various ages. I specialise in supporting children undertaking 11+ exams, and have successfully helped students to obtain places at reputable selective schools.

I currently work as a Consultant in a Top 4 Firm, hold a 1st Class Honours Degree from King's College London and a Subject Prize Award in Economics.

I am available to teach students of all ages and levels.
