About Hope
I studied my undergraduate degree at Chichester Conservatoire in BMus Vocal Performance and will be graduating with a First Class degree (with honours) (2016-2020). I have Grade 8 Singing (Classical), and Music Theory with ABRSM, and am currently working on my Diploma in Piano (ABRSM). I am starting a MA in Classical Singing with Piano at Trinity Laban London in September 2025. Prior to studying at Chichester I had many years experience performing in Choirs and Show Choirs at venues like Dorking Halls and The Royal Albert Hall. While at University I have been a part of multiple choirs (University of Chichester Chamber Choir, Symphonic Choir, First Year Choir). Additionally, I have had an active role in societies throughout my time at Chichester: Music Society (Member 2016-19, Wellbeing Officer 2019-20), Acapella Society (Member 2016-17, President / Musical Director / Arranger 2018-20), and The Musical Theatre Society (Musical Director 2017-20; FAME, Chicago, Sister Act, Music Man). I have had 8 years experience teaching students mainly in Piano and Singing, supporting them through learning their instrument of choice and through ABRSM grades, and have had great success in getting the students to enjoy the whole exam experience.

Lessons given to… I am happy to teach all students any age or calibre. I would recommend that a student should be above 7 to start learning music in an individual setting. I would also recommend that any student over the age of 4 can learn in a group setting. I am happy to give lessons to those who are looking for a musical outlet, as plain fun, or to seriously learn an instrument and have a go doing grades Lesson Structure My usual lesson structure is based off of Paul Harris' 'Simultaneous Learning': - Warm up - Based on the focus of the lesson - Breathing, Pitching, Scales, Intervals, Rhythm etc In the warm up we would usually do 3 exercises based on physical, brain, and instrumental activities. - Technique - Using the focus of the lesson we would use an aspect of technique to start to develop our technical ability. For example, using scales and arpeggios with different rhythms, or articulation. - Pieces - In this section we would look at some pieces, and talk about how to practise them in the students own time. The pieces are chosen by the student, through recommendations of the teacher. I will always be guided by the student, and will take into account what they want to play. During this time we will also play some simple duets, to get the student used to ensemble playing. Theory Activity - In the theory session we would look at some of the features of theory, relating them back to the pieces that we've looked at and back to the focus of the lesson. Recapitulation - To finish off the lesson we will usually do a short improvisation activity based on all the techniques and aspects discussed in the lesson, and talk about what to practise this week. Then I would write in the students notebook/get them to write in their notebook, stating what they have done in the lesson, and what to work on for next time.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the tutor.
Hope is an excellent music teacher, both in singing and piano. I have personally benefited from singing lessons with her. My breath control has greatly improved, and I am able to produce much more volume. Her music theory knowledge is amazing. She is very professional, patient and encouraging. As a professional performer herself, she is able to impart great advice on performance techniques. I am now able to perform with greater confidence. I thoroughly recommend Hope as a music tutor.A good teacher with honest values and a spark of flair that tutoring often misses, keeping my children on the right track.
Other tutors are doing this for a job only but Hope is doing this because she really enjoys and cares about what she is teaching.Harry is a confident, skilled teacher who is attentive to each of his students. He has a great passion for music which shines through in his teaching. He is very versatile, teaching piano, singing and music theory and he can teach any age. I would 100% recommend Harry!
Harry creates a wonderful atmosphere from the get-go. His teaching style allows me to be confident and try my best. Highly recommend to anyone starting out or for competent singers to raise your ability. His musical ability and knowledge is astounding.
Harry is a very intelligent and capable young musician, who brings a breath of knowledge and experience to his teaching. He is wonderfully informed when it comes to music theory, which when coupled with his performance experience, makes for an insightful and informative music lesson.
Harry has all the attributes of an amazing teacher. He's knowledgeable, approachable, and supportive. It's been a real privilege to work with him in the past, and I hope to do so again in the future!
Mr Harry Heaven has a joyous and upbeat teaching attitude, you can tell this is his passion and it comes out every lesson, no matter the student. He teaches to a standard that is unrivalled locally to anyone of his age, it’s the effort that counts for me, not necessarily the years of experience.
Since starting lessons with Harry my confidence and skill has come on so far. Such a relaxed and fun environment. I’d thoroughly recommend!
