About Jocelyn
Over the past 7 years, I have worked as a mathematics tutor while holding an MSc in Mathematical Finance. I specialize in advanced abstract subjects that often feel intimidating at first. My teaching philosophy is grounded in reasoning, clarity, and careful argument.
I introduce group theory through symmetry and transformations that students can visualize. Ring theory follows naturally, showing how algebraic structures generalize arithmetic. Topology is approached through intuitive discussions about continuity and space before formal definitions are presented. Each concept is examined conceptually before we formalize a proof. I guide students in writing precise and logical arguments step by step. Many of my students are university learners or future pure mathematicians.
I believe conversation is essential to mathematical understanding. Students learn to explain ideas aloud and defend them logically. This process strengthens both intuition and rigor.
