About Elisha

I am a Computer Science student at Champlain College. In high school, my strongest subjects were math and English. Furthermore, I was in a PEI international education program. This meant that most of my classes were at a more difficult level than average. I love learning new things and, more importantly, being able to share the knowledge I gain. I also do volunteer work because I know how important it is to give back to the community. I am also someone who goes with the flow and likes turning serious, boring stuff into something more fun and exciting and this can be seen in the way I teach.

About the lesson

English can be fun and really easy when taught by the right teacher. All my classes are engaging and customized to each student.

My English Tutoring Approach

Teaching Methodology and Techniques:

Integrated Skills Approach: I believe in developing all four key language skills (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) in an interconnected way. Lessons don't focus on isolated grammar drills but integrate grammar into meaningful communication activities.

Analytical & Logical Framework: Drawing from my Computer Science background, I bring a structured and analytical approach to language learning. I emphasize understanding the "why" behind grammatical rules and sentence structures, fostering a deeper comprehension of the A Typical Lesson Plan:

Warm-up: A brief activity to activate prior knowledge, review previous material, or engage students in a light conversation to practice speaking.

Core Instruction: This segment focuses on the main objective of the lesson, such as:
Grammar explanation with examples and practice exercises.
Reading a text followed by comprehension questions and discussion.
Writing instruction with guided practice
Vocabulary building activities.

Application/Activity: Students apply what they've learned through:
Communicative tasks (role-plays, debates, presentations).
Creative writing exercises.
Games and interactive quizzes.
Analysis of authentic materials (articles, videos).
Wrap-up/Homework (5 minutes): Review of key concepts, assignment of homework, and opportunity for students to ask questions.
